Recognising Extraordinary Service to Karate in Western Australia

Karate Western Australia is pleased to announce that nominations for Life Membership are now open for 2026.

Life Membership is the highest honour that can be awarded by Karate Western Australia. It recognises individuals who have demonstrated long-standing, exceptional and impactful service to karate in Western Australia.

If you know someone who has gone above and beyond in their contribution to the sport, whether as a volunteer, coach, referee, administrator, official, committee member or leader, we encourage you to consider submitting a nomination.

Criteria

Life Membership may be awarded to individuals who have provided a minimum of 12 years of service at a state level in roles such as:

• • • Board Member.
    • Committee Member.
    • Coach.
    • Referee.
    • Official.
    • Administrator.
    • Volunteer.

This service must be marked by exceptional dedication, significant impact and long-term benefit to karate in Western Australia.

To be considered, nominees should have demonstrated excellence across multiple areas, including but not limited to:

• • • Leadership and governance.
    • Driving growth, culture and community engagement within WA karate.
    • Upholding and modelling Karate WA values of respect, integrity, inclusion and excellence.
    • Innovation and development through the introduction of new ideas or improved practices.
    • Mentoring and building the capacity of future generations.
    • Creating a lasting legacy or long-term positive impact on the sport in Western Australia.

Nominations close: 31 August 2026

Eligibility: As outlined in the Karate Western Australia Award Regulations.

Submission: Nominations must be submitted by email to board@karatewestaustralia.com and include all supporting information and documentation.

What to Include in a Nomination

Nominations should provide clear and specific examples of:

• The nominee’s service, influence and contribution.
• The lasting outcomes, programs, systems or initiatives they helped establish.
• The breadth and significance of their impact across the karate community.
• How their contribution has benefited karate in Western Australia over the long term.

Nomination Process

Nominations are reviewed by the Karate WA Board in accordance with the Association’s Award Regulations and Constitution.

Where a nomination is endorsed by the Board, it will be presented to members for approval at the Annual General Meeting.

Successful Life Members will be formally announced at the Annual General Meeting and recognised at the following Karate WA Annual Awards Night.
