Recognising Extraordinary Service to Karate in Western Australia
Karate Western Australia (Karate WA) is pleased to announce that nominations for Life Membership are now open for 2025.
Life Membership is the highest honour that can be awarded by the Association. It recognises individuals who have demonstrated long-standing, exceptional, and impactful service to Karate in Western Australia
If you know someone who has gone above and beyond in their contribution, whether as a volunteer, coach, referee, administrator, community member or leader, we encourage you to consider submitting a nomination.
Criteria
Life Membership is awarded to individuals who have rendered a minimum of 12 years of service at a state level in roles such as Board Member, Committee Member, Coach, Referee, Official, community member or a Volunteer.
This service must be marked by a record of exceptional dedication, significant impact, and long-term benefit to the sport.
To be considered, nominees must have demonstrated excellence in multiple areas, including but not limited to:
- Leadership and governance.
- Driving growth, culture, and community engagement in WA Karate.
- Upholding and modelling Karate WA values (respect, integrity, inclusion, excellence).
- Innovation and development, introducing new ideas or improving practices.
- Mentoring and capacity building for future generations.
- Creating a legacy or long-term positive impact on the sport in WA.

- Nominations Close: 30 August 2025
- Eligibility: As outlined in the Karate Western Australia Award Regulations
- Submission: Nominations must be submitted via email to board@karatewestaustralia.com , including all supporting documentation.
Nominations
Nominations should include specific examples of:
- The nominee’s influence and contributions
- Lasting outcomes or systems they helped establish
- The scope of their legacy across the Karate community
Nominations are reviewed by the Karate WA Board in line with the Association’s Award Regulations and Constitution. If endorsed, the nomination is presented for Member approval at the Annual General Meeting.
Successful Life Members are formally presented at the Annual General Meeting and recognised at the following Annual Awards Night.
