Karate WA will be hosting the first Karate Australia Guardian Girls Instructor Training Course in Western Australia on 5 and 6 September, facilitated by Liz Mahler.
Guardian Girls is a women’s self-defence and personal safety program designed to support women and girls to build confidence, awareness and practical skills in a safe and supportive environment. The program aims to reduce violence against women and girls by equipping them with practical self-defence skills through the discipline of sport Karate. Further aims include advancing gender equality, promoting sport Karate as a powerful tool for social change, and fostering women’s participation in sports.
Upon successful completion of the Guardian Girls Instructor Certification Program and accreditation through Karate Australia and the World Karate Federation (WKF), certified instructors are recognised to:
- Deliver approved Guardian Girls Empowerment and Self-Defence programs within authorised organisations and communities.
- Be recognised as a Certified Guardian Girls Instructor by the World Karate Federation (WKF) and Guardian Girls International (GGI).
- Receive an official Instructor Certification.
- Use the “Certified Guardian Girls Instructor” designation in approved settings.
- Be included in official instructor listings and have opportunities to participate in future Guardian Girls events, advanced training and instructor development programs.
Participants must attend both sessions to become accredited instructors:
Saturday, 5 September: 12.30 pm to 4.30 pm
Sunday, 6 September: 8.30 am to 1.00 pm
Venue – Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, 246 Vincent Street Leederville.
Places are limited to 30 participants.
To be eligible, participants must:
- Be female.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Hold a black belt.
- Hold a current Karate Instructor Accreditation.
