Karate WA is proud to announce the rollout of its new Regional Servicing Plan.
We are looking forward to working with our clubs, communities, coaches, officials, athletes, and volunteers to support the long-term and sustainable growth of karate across regional Western Australia.
The plan will be delivered through three key phases: Reach, Build, and Thrive.
Reach
In the first phase, the focus will be on expanding connections, strengthening communication, and establishing the foundations for long-term regional engagement and delivery.
By the end of this phase, Karate WA aims to increase engagement across identified regional communities and build stronger awareness of karate as a safe, inclusive, and accessible activity for women, girls, young people, and culturally diverse communities.
This phase will include the establishment of a dedicated Regional Advisory Group and the implementation of data-informed service planning to support regional engagement and delivery. It will also introduce new opportunities for women and girls to participate in karate, including programs such as Guardian Girls, while continuing to create clearer entry-level pathways in safe and inclusive environments.
The Reach phase will focus on the South West, Wheatbelt, and Peel regions of Western Australia.
Build
In the second phase, Karate WA will build on the foundations established during the Reach phase.
This phase will focus on delivering individual regional plans, improving development and participation opportunities, and increasing access to local activities and events. A key aim will be to create clearer pathways from local club participation through to state programs, team selection, and national involvement.
During this phase, Karate WA will increase access to karate in the Great Southern and Goldfields regions and continue developing strong connections with communities in these areas.
By the end of this phase, the aim is to strengthen club infrastructure and improve local delivery of coaching, referee, athlete, and volunteer development.
Thrive
In the final phase, the focus will be on building long-term pathways for coaching, officiating, athlete development, and club sustainability, ensuring regional karate growth can continue into the future.
This phase will include a strong focus on developing programs for underrepresented communities, including Indigenous and inclusion initiatives. Karate WA will work to identify and support talented athletes from these communities and connect them with the broader karate development pathway.
By the end of the Thrive phase, Karate WA aims to see lifelong karate pathways available locally, from beginner participation through to competition, coaching, refereeing, mentoring, and leadership.
Opportunities to Get Involved
There will be a number of ways for clubs, volunteers, coaches, officials, athletes, and community members to get involved in the Regional Servicing Plan.
These include taking part in the new Regional Advisory Group, supporting regional delivery, and participating in coach, athlete, and referee development programs.
Karate WA looks forward to working with our regional clubs and communities to grow karate across Western Australia and create stronger, more sustainable pathways for the future.
